A victory for me!
Just a quick note--I used my new washer and dryer last night for the first time and it actually worked! Its the little things of being a first time home owner that really get me excited! I was also pleased with myself for figuring out how the trash pick up works at my place. Nice! I'll keep you posted on future home owner victories for me because I'm kinda of an idiot so i'm sure there will be many more.

Welcome to being a home-owner
I did it! I sucessfully moved into my first place, but not without a lot of help and a few bumps along the way. A shout out to Barney, Jason and Jeremy for doing just an excellent job moving all my crap across town in one trip! It only took us 2.5 hours--unbelievable. Thanks so much to them and my dad and sister for getting up early on a Saturday morning on my behalf.

During the move I also had an electrician there already putting in an outlet for the washer because apparently the builder didn't think it was important to put one in the landry 'room' so that I could plug in my washer. But that has since been fixed, and although I haven't used my washer and dryer yet i'm pretty pumped that I no longer have to hunt around the place for quarters!

The more fun part of the day was heading out for lunch and drinks after the move. We headed to Pooleys-soon to be my new hang probably since I can literally walk home. We watched the draft (blah was that boring) and actually that is probably why I got so drunk because I wasn't into the draft so I just drank more and more. The end of the night led us to Pedros for dinner-after that, I really don't remember much. Ah lovely. I do know that I made it home and slept in my new place for the first time. One thing I did notice was the sidewalk light outside shines DIRECTLY into my bedroom and onto my bed. Now because I don't have any window coverings yet, I found this to be particulary annoying! Ah well, good thing I was wasted and fell asleep easily.

Sunday brought a long, long, I repeat long day of running around, hung over, shopping and cleaning my old apartment. I woke up with the shakes but had to get up and get all my shit done yesterday. I spent a lot of money, barely ate anything and cleaned, cleaned, and cleaned. My sister also pointed out to me that my vacuum wasn't working properly so I'm betting that's why my carpet was so bad in my apartment--but luckily, I bought a new vacuum!
Anyway, the night ended with me locking myself out of my house, mind you its Day 2 that I have been living there, and had to call a locksmith. Geez how embarassing, I move into the neighborhood and have to have a locksmith come out and open my dang door. Yikes! Hopefully I won't do that again soon.

Back to the real world!
Ok ok I know---I'm behind already on my blogging. But cut me a little slack as I have just gotten back from Florida and bought a house. I've been a little busy :)

Florida was really beautiful and I did not want to come back. Jeremy and I arrived to Hibiscus Pointe on Monday to be greeted by Heather and Bra who had already been there for two nights. Ah the memories of when we took a girls graduation trip here many years ago-fun times! We had a good first night be getting wasted playing drinking games.
Heather and I woke up early the next morning to go swimming in sub-zero temperatures. This was the coldest and most windy day we had yet we were out there swimming away in the pool, doing our old lady exercises and doing some half-ass laps! Wednesday was met with refreshed attitudes because it was going to be sunny and around 80 degrees. We loaded up our coolers with plenty of beer, bacardi and sandwichs and headed to the secluded beach across the street. Nice times!

We had a good time that day and pretty much for the whole rest of the trip. What could be better than drinking, laying out and getting tan, and not being here! Lots of rum runners and pina coladas! I also took it upon myself to become obsessed with getting shells off the beach for my little nephew and then I decided I wanted to get extra so that I could do some crafting in my soon-to-be new crafting room. Stay tuned for that....We all made it back alright with relatively little hassle and had a great time on the trip!
Not to make my life more busy than it is usually, I decided to make my closing on my new condo this past Monday, right after getting back from vacation. Yeah, not the smartest thing i've done recently. But the closing went off without a hitch and I am officialy a home owner now! Pretty exciting I suppose, but I think it will really hit me when I move this Saturday. Stay tuned for that....

Busy weekend before vacation!
As this weekend approaches, I was realizing last night how busy it is already and then on Monday I leave for Fort Myers!! Tonight i'll be taking it easy as tomorrow I will again be donating my running skills (?!?!) for the American Cancer Society's 5K run. I was actually really excited about this as this is my first race of the year, but then I saw the weather forecast--a high of 39 with rain/snow! YIKES! I have a hard enough time running in nice normal weather, how the hell am I going to run in that crap?! I can tell you exactly how it will go. I be cold whil
e i'm there so i'll wear pants and a long sleeve shirt to start. I'll use my inhaler and look like a disabled girl puffing on an inhaler 10 minutes before the run!
Then i'll start running in the massive stamped of people at the start line. In about 5 minutes i'll realize that i'm super hot and i'll start sweating profusely until I attempt to take off my long sleeve shirt. At this point i'll also realize that I accidentally pinned my number on through both shirts!! OMG i'm so hot and sweating! So then i'll give up on trying to cool down and just focus on not finishing dead last. Why do I do these runs? Not sure but I have to say that i'm always proud of myself when its all done and I always feel good donating for a good cause. If you are bored Saturday morning-head over to Warner park to cheer me on!
Also this weekend i'll be heading out to the Fireside Theatre with my sister to see "Anything Goes". This will be fun i'm sure. Also on Saturday night I hope to head out for a few cocktails with the gang for some fun. Then its off to sunny Florida, which of course i'll blog about when I get back. Have a great weekend!

The sweet smell of Change...
Thanks for becoming a regular reader of my blog--I'm excited about it. Last night I saw a commerical for a special on ABC called "The Last Lecture: A Love Story for Your Life" with Randy Pausch. It was about a man who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, one of if not the worse cancer, and only was given 3-6 months to live. This particular special was 3 seperate interviews with him done by Diane Sawyer over the last few months. I don't say this very often but watching this one hour special was life-changing!I had first seen this man on Oprah a few months ago and remembered being impressed by him then but didn't really think any more about it. Last night, what impressed me the most was his ability, and his wife's ability to accept the fate they'd be given and to enjoy life everyday, absolutely to the fullest. People like Randy and his wife have always amazed me, much as women who have had multiple children and are still thinner then me! His positive attitude and willingness to share his s
tory and change lives is just amazing. I'm not sure that I would be like that if I found out I only had 3-6 months to live. One thing that he said that really stuck out in my mind is when Diane Sawyer asked him if he thought it was unfair that he had gotten this cancer. His response (and i'm para-phrasing here) was that he didn't think it was unfair at all. Just unlucky. He said we are all up on a dart board and his spot just happened to be the one that got hit this time. He said, it wasn't unfair because it could have happened to anybody, just unlucky. I am going to go buy this book and I will write about it while I"m reading it. I highly recommend you read about this man and even watch part of his last lecture--truly fascinating.

The reason I even write about this is because there are a lot of changes happening in my life right now and although they are scary and exciting at the same time, I really shouldn't complain about them because at least I am healthy and I'm not having to deal with things like that. Its really all relative. I think big changes are moving, having to drive a different way to work, having to change my address on my magazine subscriptions, etc. While they seem big to me, to someone diagnosed with cancer, probably not so big! Nonetheless, I look forward to my changes ahead and I hope I can have a more positive attitude going forward.

My Home Opener
My first blog! Big day for me. I have taken all my inspiration to do a blog from my friend Bdogschneeby and his outstanding, knock em out of the park, masterful story of his life. My reason for starting a blog is that I'm finding myself with a lot to say about a lot of different topics. I think this will be a good way for me to vent about some things and express my thanks and joy for other things.
I thought this would be fitting on today of all days on the Brewer's home opener! Going to a baseball game on opening day at Miller Park is fantastic! I went a couple years ago and it was absolutely freezing. I was all bundled up trying to keep warm. There was a group of about 30 of us, most of whom I didn't know but we still had a kick-ass time. We even got on the news in Milwaukee. So much alcohol...so many older really unattractive men wandering around...Go Brewers!
