What a week! Too much to get into here so i'll just recap the high lights! Sunday I went to my first JJO Band Camp at the Alliant Center!! Not only that but thanks to Adam and his brother, I got a FREE ticket! This whole experience was totally interesting to me. Band Camp is a day long event that include bands playing one after the other on two stages, while everyone stands outside, drinks, eats, and rocks out.
The day started with me and Grade heading over to Olin park and meeting up with his crew of people that tailgate every year for this event. We grilled out and ate, pre-gamed on the drinking, and then finally headed over to the show around 1pm. This was a very good idea to park and tailgate across the street from the Alliant Center and then walk over.

When we got in, I immediately knew it was gonna be a nice day for people watching. I saw some pretty interesting stuff. All morning I had been hearing about boob painting and girls walking around with no shirts on. YUP its true! I saw boobs, painted and not painted, butts, and a multitude of other body parts. Some boobs were tiny and some were large and some shouldn't have been painted!! Funny!

The bands were good--I didn't know many of them but most of them sounded like music i'd listen to anyway. At about 5pm, I ran out of money so that sucked!! I got to see Adam and Bry and a few other random people that I knew before heading back to the car around 7:30 to listen to the final band play from the parking lot. Food and diet coke never tasted so good.

The most interesting part of the night actually happened once we got back to the parking lot at dusk. Now, if you have lived in this area for a while you know what Olin Park is infamous for....nightly male prostitution. It was simply amazing to watch car after car drive up and around the parking lot looking for other males to go up into the woods for some booty! We did even see two guys coming OUT of the woods after a nightly romp. It was pretty disgusting! Car after car being driven by one male---blah! Not to mention how many damn mosquitos there were, I couldn't imagine going to get it on in those woods! Any hoo, we packed up and drove home after a super long day. I have never seen so many drunk, trashy, white-skinned-but-beat-red-because-of-the-sun-burning-them people in my life. Can't wait until next year!
My second event of highlight of the last week was last night at the Mallards game, or should I say Mallards two innings! My sister and I got to the ball park early for our yearly sister's Mallards game to get in line for the giveaway.....a Mallards Bobblehead!! YES, I love giveaways!! So we each got one and headed in to get some food and relax. I was sweating my balls off because it was so humid. The guy eating next to us started choking on his turkey leg--grossest thing ever! I can say that now because he ended up coughing whatever he had stuck in his throat up so he's ok, but YUCK. I had all to do to keep from throwing up myself.
We made our way up to the seats. Now we plan these seats out in advance. I buy tickets directly in the middle of the last aisle so there is no one in front of us and we have spacious seats with plenty of leg room. The game finally started at 7:08pm. We noticed some clouds moving in but didn't think anything of it. 1 hr into the game, OMG we are STILL IN THE SECOND INNING. Could they play any slower!! 1.5 hrs into the game, the other team has gone through 3 pitching changes!! Holy Crap! If that wasn't bad enough-it started pouring and lightening. Of course they didn't call the game but we were all getting completely soaked. They covered the field and said there were just gonna delay it.
You're probably thinking, why didn't you just leave?? Well, once they covered the field and said it would be a just a delay, the announcer ALSO said that if we stayed until either the end of the game or until they called the game off, we would get a free ticket to a future Mallards game. My intense need to get free stuff kept my sister and I standing in the pouring rain, waiting for them to call them game! It soon hit the 9 oclock hr and we finally conceeded to the rain, and headed for the car. No free ticket, soaked clothes, squishy shoes, mascara in my eyes....we went home :( In the end i'm glad we didn't stay as I saw on the 10pm news that they were in the 4th inning, leading 11-2.
