Photo of the Week

In honor of our upcoming tubing trip, I pay tribute to my BFF's first ever (and probably only) beer bong....with Mike's Hard Lemonade. I would like a repeat performance this weekend if you don't mind!

Week in Review

What a week! Too much to get into here so i'll just recap the high lights! Sunday I went to my first JJO Band Camp at the Alliant Center!! Not only that but thanks to Adam and his brother, I got a FREE ticket! This whole experience was totally interesting to me. Band Camp is a day long event that include bands playing one after the other on two stages, while everyone stands outside, drinks, eats, and rocks out.

The day started with me and Grade heading over to Olin park and meeting up with his crew of people that tailgate every year for this event. We grilled out and ate, pre-gamed on the drinking, and then finally headed over to the show around 1pm. This was a very good idea to park and tailgate across the street from the Alliant Center and then walk over.

When we got in, I immediately knew it was gonna be a nice day for people watching. I saw some pretty interesting stuff. All morning I had been hearing about boob painting and girls walking around with no shirts on. YUP its true! I saw boobs, painted and not painted, butts, and a multitude of other body parts. Some boobs were tiny and some were large and some shouldn't have been painted!! Funny!

The bands were good--I didn't know many of them but most of them sounded like music i'd listen to anyway. At about 5pm, I ran out of money so that sucked!! I got to see Adam and Bry and a few other random people that I knew before heading back to the car around 7:30 to listen to the final band play from the parking lot. Food and diet coke never tasted so good.

The most interesting part of the night actually happened once we got back to the parking lot at dusk. Now, if you have lived in this area for a while you know what Olin Park is infamous for....nightly male prostitution. It was simply amazing to watch car after car drive up and around the parking lot looking for other males to go up into the woods for some booty! We did even see two guys coming OUT of the woods after a nightly romp. It was pretty disgusting! Car after car being driven by one male---blah! Not to mention how many damn mosquitos there were, I couldn't imagine going to get it on in those woods! Any hoo, we packed up and drove home after a super long day. I have never seen so many drunk, trashy, white-skinned-but-beat-red-because-of-the-sun-burning-them people in my life. Can't wait until next year!

My second event of highlight of the last week was last night at the Mallards game, or should I say Mallards two innings! My sister and I got to the ball park early for our yearly sister's Mallards game to get in line for the giveaway.....a Mallards Bobblehead!! YES, I love giveaways!! So we each got one and headed in to get some food and relax. I was sweating my balls off because it was so humid. The guy eating next to us started choking on his turkey leg--grossest thing ever! I can say that now because he ended up coughing whatever he had stuck in his throat up so he's ok, but YUCK. I had all to do to keep from throwing up myself.

We made our way up to the seats. Now we plan these seats out in advance. I buy tickets directly in the middle of the last aisle so there is no one in front of us and we have spacious seats with plenty of leg room. The game finally started at 7:08pm. We noticed some clouds moving in but didn't think anything of it. 1 hr into the game, OMG we are STILL IN THE SECOND INNING. Could they play any slower!! 1.5 hrs into the game, the other team has gone through 3 pitching changes!! Holy Crap! If that wasn't bad enough-it started pouring and lightening. Of course they didn't call the game but we were all getting completely soaked. They covered the field and said there were just gonna delay it.

You're probably thinking, why didn't you just leave?? Well, once they covered the field and said it would be a just a delay, the announcer ALSO said that if we stayed until either the end of the game or until they called the game off, we would get a free ticket to a future Mallards game. My intense need to get free stuff kept my sister and I standing in the pouring rain, waiting for them to call them game! It soon hit the 9 oclock hr and we finally conceeded to the rain, and headed for the car. No free ticket, soaked clothes, squishy shoes, mascara in my eyes....we went home :( In the end i'm glad we didn't stay as I saw on the 10pm news that they were in the 4th inning, leading 11-2.

Awesome Rock Show

OMG--I had an awesome time at the Dane County Fair last night seeing Tantric for the first time!! I missed them when they were here a few months ago, but they were so worth the wait. They put on a really great show, one of the best i've seen in a long time. They played my top 3 songs off their new CD and they played some old school Tantric which was just plain awesome!

Barney, Jeremy, Billy and I met out at the South Bay for a couple drinks (thanks Becky!) and then headed into the show. The DCF had a roped off area for the show and there was beer and vodka lemonades (surprisingly I did not take part in any of that, only because they were $7 a piece). The opening bands were alright, Pine, Mighty SideShow and Copper (Jeremy's favorite) all played. But then the act of the night came on and they just rocked.

We had some funny things going on around us as usual. We had a front row seat to this couple totally making out and dry humping most of the way through the concert. I thought Billy was gonna punch the guy but ya it was pret-ty gross! And Barney got to hit the beach ball several times, one time saving my life since I had no idea it was coming directly for my head! (Thanks B!)

Overall, great show. But the best was watching Barney run up the embankment, over the grass and gravel to go pee, then watch him come back down the gravel and dirt, somehow managing to not fall on his ass. I can't wait for them to come back to Madison!!

Lag Behind

My blogging has been a sad display lately because I've been busier at work than usual. But nonetheless, I"m back and ready for some thoughts.

This past weekend marked a fun event in our friend group: the McFarland Milk Challenge! I am deferring to another blog to give you all the details on this as I feel he did an EXCELLENT job describing every detail of the event. Take a look at the Bdogschneeby Times linked on the side and you'll get a FULL description of what happened! Congrats to Bra on his victory!

On Saturday, the Anderson's, Grade, and myself loaded up the Mountaineer and headed to Milwaukee for the 6:05pm Brewer game. We hit the road about 2pm and went into Milwaukee to check into the DoubleTree before the game. Yikes--after a couple wrong turns, a missed exit, and a phone call to Burns, we arrived, checked in and headed to Miller Park. Now, those of you who know me well know that I really shouldn't sit in the front seat of a car that i'm not driving. I have been OFFICIALLY banned from sitting in the front seat of Grade's car ever again! I'm a bit of a 'backseat' driver and a freak about what's going on in front of me on the road. So yes, Grade has banned me from sitting there again! Hmm, not happy about that!

We FINALLY pulled into Miller Park and used our free Carpets Plus provided preferred parking pass and starting setting up for our tailgate. We were squeezed in between a bachelor party and two older couples playing Yatzee! It was funny. If you look carefully in the picture, you can see the mother of all mullets next to us!! Of course we were no better because we were playing Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?? The answer: NO we are not! Anyway, we grilled up some brats and turkey burgers, had some snacks and enjoyed the 2.5 hours before the game.

My anxiety was building during this tailgate for two reasons: I was smuggling in a flask of bacardi in my purse and the rest of the group taunted me and made me think it was going to be taken away, I would be kicked out, arrested, blah blah blah and secondly, I was SUPER PUMPED about receiving the give-away of a Prince Fielder drawstring bag! Luckily I made it in, got the give-away, made it to our AWESOME seats and enjoyed the game. THEY LOST, but we still had a good time watching the game, drinking from flasks, and watching the boys wear their back packs.

The real fun started afterwards when Club Grade erupted in the parking lot afterwards. We had the tunes going and a bunch of groups around us dialed into his Zune frequency (or however the hell that works) and were blasting the same tunes. I was making nice with the bachelor party boys and Bra and Grade were watching to see if the girls down the road were gonna start dirty dancing. Finally after a while, we decided to head out and meet out Ryan and Justin for Justin's bday. Oh but wait, the car needs to start for that right? Ya it didn't! Again, Grade ran his car down but luckily, the nice boys I met at the Bachelor party had jumper cables and gave us a jump. It was worth it since we had awesome tunes to dance to after the game but thank god we weren't stranded there!

Off to the hotel to change, off to downtown milwaukee to meet out the boys. We pulled into the DoubleTree. Hmm, now we are all 27-30 yrs old but yet, we couldn't figure out how to get the damn car valeted! We pulled in and just sat there waiting for one of the four guys standing there to come park the car. Hmm, could it have been the hours of tailgating or the hours of Club Grade after the game? Maybe, but finally I got out of the car and got the guy and said something along the lines of "Ya we've been drinking all day at the game, we're new, um, can you park the car or how do we do this." Ya i'm a dumbass! So the rest of the group got out, Heather opened the back hatch of the car and oh shit (!) the Bacardi bottle fell out and busted all over the parking lot floor. Could we make a bigger scene?!? So there I am on my hands and knees picking up glass chunks in the middle of the DoubleTree parking garage. I only sustained 4 cuts to my hands and successfully got the glass picked up. We proceed to grab our stuff, roll our cooler (yup we're classy) into the hotel and up to the room.

The rest of the night wasn't nearly as exciting as everyone hoped it would be but we went out for a little while, the rest of the group ate at Qdoba's and we came back to the hotel. Bra slept and me, Heather, and Grade stayed up talking about band geeks and eyeballs. No one except Bra got much sleep since he was farting like it was going out of style and I kept sneezing! Fun times.

Thankfully we arrived back in Madison the next day safe and sound. Can't wait for the next Brewer game adventure!

4-day Bender

This week (weekend) started all the way back on Wednesday when a few of us decided it would just AWESOME to go out on a week night and stay out till almost 1am! BW3's certainly did me in that night, maybe it was the 8 bacardi and diets I had or maybe it was only getting 3 hrs of sleep before draggin my ass into work to go play with people's fluids! Either way, a great way to start off the holiday weekend!

Thursday brought a long day for me. Going to work was horrible, but I managed to go and eat lunch with B at Olive Garden. All you can eat breadsticks, soup and salad was a live saver for me! The rest of the day was a blur but it ended with an early night actually. I went and watched Grade, Yates and Bra play VB in a very sad sad display of athletics. Let me re-phrase...they kicked the other team's ass! Maybe one of these days i'll actually get to see a match... :)

Friday, happy 4th of July! J and Grade headed out to summerfest and I was on dog duty! Hard to believe I know! Me taking care of a dog, but I only had to go over there once to let Sasha out. And she's just so darn sweet its hard not to want to take care of her. Since the rest of the guys were out at Johnny's bachelor party J and Grade gone all day/night, I was thinking I would really just stay home and relax on the 4th! Well...that never happened. Greta and me, met up with Lundo and Kelscher down at the Monona beer tent and brought in the 4th with some Lube (the band, get your mind out of the gutter!), drinks and fireworks. We then headed to the tav

And finally Saturday night brought the most interesting and fun night! Grade, Jeremy, Heather, Lundo and I decided to go watch the UFC fights at the Tilted Kilt. Two things I have never done before: watch Ultimate Fighting nor have I been to the Tilted Kilt. Both were quite fun. The Tilted Kilt is like Hooters only hotter. The girls wore little red plaid kilts with white bra top things, and of course had their boobs hanging out. It was an interesting atmosphere, I probably wouldn't go there again unless there was something major going on but it was nice to go somewhere new for a change! We ate, drank a little (holy crap it was expensive there!), and watched the UFC fights. Heather and I picked our winners based on which guy was cutest. That didn't always pan out but it was still fun!

We headed back to mcfarland in hopes of finding Club GL in full swing. But we discovered nothing of the sort. The bar was completely dead! We still had a fun time listening to Lundo and Heather sing and doing some shots (thanks Lundo) but in the end we left and headed to eat at Denny's. Now I could have totally done with out that but it was good to get some food in. Following that, I invited the gang back to my place for an after-bar (again not my brightest moment) so in the heat of the moment, that's exactly what we did...at 3:45am! Jeremy crashed out right away so Grade, Heather and I stayed up playing Boom-o and Uno, listening to Spice Girls and Michael Jackson until 6:30am! Yup good times all around!

I have a few important shout outs to make from this 4-day bender:
  • Thanks to Grade for having sense NOT to make it an after bar night on Wednesday night (eh just slap me next time)
  • Thanks to Lundo, Kelscher and Greta for taking ALL my money in dice on Friday
  • I'm giving a shout out to Jeremy for projectile vomiting at summerfest--way to go babe!
  • Shout out to Heather for making 'her day' a really fun one! Can't wait for the next installment of stand up.
  • Thanks to Lundo for buying me a shot of some tequila and kudos to me for doing it (tomato juice is my life-saver)
  • Thanks to Grade for sitting up with two ladies, listening to Michael Jackson and the Spice Girls until 6:30am!
  • Shout out to Barney for doing push-ups ON TOP of the bar (although I wasn't present for this, I appreciated the update phone call!)
  • And finally, a big shout out to the bartender at the Tilted Kilt for having a nice set of back dimples! Thanks!

A Boomin' Good Time

This weekend marked two events, Kevin's 30th birthday and Grade's "A Boomin Good Time' party that we have all been looking forward to for a while. Friday night started off with a small gathering at the Rausch/Teter residence for lots of drinking, flip cup playing and even swimming! Jeremy and Grade decided it would be fun to strip down to their underwear and jump into the pool. And Ann joined in! Way to have guts Ann. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of that blessed event but i'm sure someone does...Happy Birthday Kevin!

Saturday proved to be a really busy but really fun day for me. I woke up early to go help take care of my nephew (long story, don't want to get into it here). I had to bring over all my ingrediants to make my dessert that I was bringing to the party later in the day.

I got home about 11:30 and got everything ready for the party. Jeremy, me, Heather, Bra, Lundo and Egner all arrived at Grade's apartment together and first thing on the list...jager bombs all around. Me and Heather just did jager shots as neither of us likes red bull. Heather and I then played a little foos ball--or I should say TRIED to play, but still had fun. There were people playing bags outside, people singing and dacing inside, and people coming and going all the time.

I think highlights of the day/night for me were:

  • the multitude of jager shots happening

  • Sasha sticking her nose up my skirt--and I mean REALLY up my skirt

  • turning Grade's kitchen/living room into Club Grade

  • watching Grade kick people out of the parking lot and almost starting fights

  • Heather and I drinking martinis

  • late night feats of strength with 40lb dumb-bells...I have to say i'm a little sore today. So much for my no-lifting order from the doctor!

  • Grade #2 and I playing flip cup...by ourselves...one on one....with three cups

  • Heather's wet spot caused by Lundo....don't ask :)

  • and of course, the fireworks!

It couldn't have been a better day, except for the minor rain delay. Thanks Grade for an awesome party. Can't wait until next year!

What a difference a day makes!

So if you had bet that TODAY would be the day that I actually killed the flower, you might be right. I am almost positive that by the time I get home today, my nice housewarming flower will be dead! Wow, I suck at keep plants and flowers alive. I thought it was going well, the picture from yesterday was very nice. But today--not so much! Ah well, FYI, never buy me a plant or flower because obviously I have no idea what i'm doing!

In other news, I wanted to inform you of my quest for finding the perfect deodorant. I have struggled with deodorants for as long as I can remember and I"m sick of it! I used to use men's and i'm very VERY close to going back to that. I just hate the way they smell, but they work SO much better and there's no white stuff!

So this weekend I will be testing Secret's Flawless brand. It will be a good test because i'll be outside in the sunny weather all day and i'll be wearing a tank top. My pet peeves about my most recent deodorants were that when I worked out hard (ie running and doing all my cardio) it just didn't last. And it also got all white and bumpy on hot days with tank tops! ARGH, hate it! So i'm trying a new kind, getting away from the Dove deodorants and trying Secret again. If this one doesn't work well i'm going to try the 'clinical strength' sport one from Secret but it just sucks because its almost $8 a stick! I'll keep you posted as i'm sure you're dying to know all about it!

Random Thoughts

I haven't blogged in a while and instead of blogging about how much fun the weekend was (ie housewarming party and JJO girls nite out) I decided I would just blog about what's been going on this week and some thoughts I have on it!

First up, I bought a ceiling fan on Monday that is STILL sitting in its million pieces in my living room. Now good ole Kevin is coming over tonight and hopefully by the end of the night, I will have a nice new working ceiling fan in my bedroom. Very exciting and now I can cross "purchase ceiling fan" off my list

Next, last night I got the itch to do some document shredding! Now I LOVE shredding paper in my shredder at home! Weird? Maybe, but it's a lot of fun. I tend to do this periodically and shred all my purchases or receipts, my bank statements which I hate receiving paper copies of, and most of my online payment receipts. I kept the ones for 2008 but got rid of everything else. Love it!

Yesterday I also stayed late at work to attend my employee appreciation reception, which by the way made me stay 2.5 hours longer at work than I normally am here since I come in at 6am! Ya wasn't worth it! Now my work has NEVER done this before so I was curious to know what it would be like. I knew there was going to be a gift since I was asked to provide a list of names from everyone that works in the lab. So of course I had to stay and figure out what it was. I thought I could just grab the gift and go....NO OF COURSE NOT.
We had to mingle and talk (like I don't see these people enough during the week) and snack on refreshments which included fruit and chocolate cake! I had neither! THEN, they wanted to do a group picture. AH, are you serious?! So we had to all squish together, all 100 of us and the guy took a bunch of pictures from the second floor of the atrium. Totally lame. Then FINALLY I got my gift and I basically ran out of there at about 5pm! The gift was a company logo engraved metal water thingy, pictured below. Not bad, worth an 11 hour day and a lamo photo? Probably not....can't wait until next year :)

And also, I wanted to include this picture of this flower that Arick and Brooke gave me for my housewarming. Now anyone that knows me well would know NOT to get me any kind of flower or plant because it will never survive. Its a death wish for the living thing! Heather came over on Monday and saw the flower and just started laughing because two days into having it, it looked terrible. BUT, I decided I was going to try and revive it. So I watered it (for the first time since I had gotten it) and put it on my table where I knew it would get sun. I am HAPPY to report the flower has come alive again and it looking wonderful! Any bets on how long before I actually kill it??
